The Prophet
Born in Amsterdam in 1968 under the name Dov Joseph Elkabas, The Prophet has traversed several phases of the history of Dutch electronic music, from the 1990s hardcore and gabber to the hardstyle he later helped to shape. Active since the 1980s as a DJ, he participated in The Dreamteam with Dano, Buzz Fuzz and Gizmo, a formation linked to the beginnings of the Dutch hardcore scene. Under different aliases, including The Masochist, he develops a hard, fast and frontal sound, based on pounding kicks, dry rhythms and simple but effective melodic motifs, before gradually directing his work toward a hardstyle more calibrated for large stages. In 2002, The Prophet founded the label Scantraxx, which plays a central role in disseminating this current. His discography blends singles, maxis, collaborative projects and albums, notably Louder in 2014 and From The Hard in 2023. Over the years, The Prophet regularly appears on festival line-ups and events linked to hard dance, while collaborating with several producers in the hardstyle scene. His Israeli family roots are sometimes mentioned alongside his Amsterdam-based grounding, which remains the starting point of his career.
