The Tea Party

Formed in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, The Tea Party has brought together since the early 1990s Jeff Martin (vocals, guitar), Stuart Chatwood (bass, keyboards) and Jeff Burrows (drums) as a rock trio whose sound is marked by blues, alternative rock and influences from Middle Eastern and South Asian music. The Tea Party first drew attention on the Canadian scene with the album Splendor Solis (1993), then refined its approach—blending heavy riffs, acoustic motifs and dark atmospheres—on The Edges of Twilight (1995) and Transmission (1997). Throughout the 1990s and 2000s the band toured extensively across Canada, Australia and Europe, developing a repertoire where classic rock structures coexist with more progressive textures. After Triptych (1999) and The Interzone Mantras (2001), The Tea Party released Seven Circles (2004) before going on hiatus in 2005, each member pursuing various projects. The official reunion took place in 2011, followed by the album The Ocean at the End (2014) and later Blood Moon Rising (2021), which continued the band's sonic signature between electric rock, more atmospheric directions and a recurring use of modes and melodies inspired by Eastern music.
