The Road Hammers

Formed in Canada in the mid-2000s around singer-guitarist Jason McCoy, The Road Hammers craft a country rock sound with southern rock overtones, steeped in the imagery of the open road and trucking. The trio—rounded out by Clayton Bellamy and, on bass, first Chris Byrne and later Scott Brown—made its mark on the Canadian country scene with a self-titled debut in 2005 that mixed covers of “trucker” classics with original material, before turning to the U.S. market with the 2008 compilation Blood, Sweat & Steel. The Road Hammers followed with The Road Hammers II in 2009, extending that electric aesthetic, then took a break before returning in 2014 with Wheels, an album that honed a more melodic sound while retaining the band’s rock energy. Now firmly established, The Road Hammers released The Squeeze in 2017 and have continued to focus on narrative-driven songs, powered by sturdy guitars, straight-ahead choruses, and a strong grounding in North American road culture—ranging from mid-tempo ballads to tougher, more abrasive cuts made for country and rock stages.
