Rafael Anton Irisarri

Born in Seattle, Rafael Anton Irisarri has developed since the mid‑2000s a body of work positioned between ambient, drone, minimal electronics and shoegaze‑like textures. A composer, producer and mastering engineer, he constructs slow, dense pieces in which sonic layers, saturation and resonance often take precedence over rhythm, while maintaining a clear melodic writing. His discography under his own name includes Daydreaming (2007), The North Bend (2010), A Fragile Geography (2015) and Solastalgia (2019), which mark different stages in his approach, from contemplative ambient to darker, more abrasive forms. In parallel he has developed other frameworks such as The Sight Below, aiming at a meeting of dub techno and atmospheric landscapes, and the project Orcas with Benoît Pioulard. Through his releases, performances and work at Black Knoll Studio, Rafael Anton Irisarri moves across experimental, ambient and electronic scenes.
