The Dirty Nil

Formed in 2006 between Dundas and Hamilton, Ontario, The Dirty Nil was initially built around singer-guitarist Luke Bentham and drummer Kyle Fisher, with several bassists passing through the lineup; Anthony Vitanza joined the band in 2025. The Dirty Nil operates at the intersection of punk rock, alternative rock and hard rock, delivering short, punchy songs driven by massive riffs, a very direct melodic sense and lyrics that mix irony, tension and catchy choruses. After several EPs and singles in the early 2010s, including Smite (2014), the band gained visibility with their debut album Higher Power (2016), followed by Master Volume (2018), Fuck Art (2021), Free Rein to Passions (2023) and The Lash (2025), all released on Dine Alone Records. They also issued the compilation Minimum R&B in 2017, collecting some of their early tracks. A powerful live act, The Dirty Nil has toured Canada, the United States, the UK and Europe, both as headliners and alongside other rock bands, notably Billy Talent. In 2017 The Dirty Nil won the Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year.
