Dinosaur Pile-Up

Born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Dinosaur Pile-Up formed in 2007 around Matt Bigland after the end of Mother Vulpine, before taking the shape of a trio with Mike Sheils on drums and, since 2013, Jim Cratchley on bass. The band develops a direct and melodic alternative rock, fed by grunge, post-grunge and pop punk, with massive guitars, catchy choruses and writing that retains a rough edge. After several early EPs between 2008 and 2009, Dinosaur Pile-Up released Growing Pains in 2010, their first album recorded solo by Bigland, which lays the groundwork for a sound that is both compact and taut. The journey continued across the UK, the US and Europe, with tours alongside bands such as Pixies, Feeder, Cage the Elephant, You Me At Six, Brand New and Middle Class Rut. Nature Nurture appeared in 2013, followed by Eleven Eleven in 2015, a moment when Dinosaur Pile-Up intensified the balance between grunge tension, punk energy and pop sensibility. The band continued this trajectory with Celebrity Mansions in 2019, before returning in 2025 with I’ve Felt Better, the fifth studio album that extends an identity defined by frontal, melodic rock without detours.
