The Dead South
The Dead South is a Canadian band from Regina, Saskatchewan, formed in 2012. This atypical quartet has made a name for itself internationally with a distinctive style that blends bluegrass, folk and Americana, driven by raw energy and deliberately offbeat imagery. Armed with banjos, mandolins, guitars and cellos, The Dead South — Nate Hilts, Scott Pringle, Colton Crawford and Danny Kenyon — reinvent roots music with punk intensity and subtle irony. Their track "In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company," which went viral, propelled them to global phenomenon status, accumulating hundreds of millions of streams. Their albums Good Company, Illusion & Doubt, Sugar & Joy and Chains & Stakes reflect a steady evolution between tradition and modernity, dark humour and rural nostalgia. On stage, The Dead South ignites crowds with vocal harmonies, breakneck rhythms and a dandy‑western look, confirming their cult status in the international folk revival.
