Therapy?
Formed in 1989 in Larne, Northern Ireland, Therapy? initially brought together Andy Cairns, Fyfe Ewing and Michael McKeegan around a sound that blended hardcore punk, alternative metal, noise rock and post‑punk tension. After the EPs Babyteeth (1991) and Caucasian Psychosis (1992), the band broadened its writing with Nurse (1992) and then moved toward more direct, melodic songs on Troublegum (1994), without abandoning the dissonances, tonal shifts and black humour found in its lyrics. Infernal Love (1995) and Semi‑Detached (1998) continued that trajectory with a heavier, darker approach, between alternative rock, industrial abrasion and more accessible choruses. Marked by several drummer changes over the years, Therapy? has remained centred on the core of Andy Cairns and Michael McKeegan, now joined by Neil Cooper. The group has since maintained a steady presence on alternative, punk and metal stages across the UK and Europe with albums such as Crooked Timber (2009), Disquiet (2015), Cleave (2018) and Hard Cold Fire (2023), which extend an aesthetic grounded in tension, concision and a frequently disrupted melodic sense.
