Spor

Born in Hertfordshire, England, Jon Gooch developed Spor in the mid-2000s as his first striking alias, focused on a dark, precise and nerve-wracking drum and bass, at the crossroads of neurofunk, tense breakbeat, and a highly detailed textural approach. Spor then emerged on labels tied to the British scene such as Renegade Hardware, Barcode and Subtitles, with tracks like Tactics EP in 2005, Supernova in 2007, Conquerors & Commoners in 2010 and Pacifica EP in 2011. In 2006, Jon Gooch also co-founded Lifted Music with Chris Renegade, an important structure in his career and in the drum and bass ecosystem of that period. Alongside Spor, he pursued other projects in parallel, notably Feed Me, more oriented toward electro house, dubstep and more melodic formats, but Spor remained the rawest and densest facet of his writing. His return under this alias took a new form with the Caligo album in 2015, followed by the Black Eyed EP in 2016 and the track Anachronic in 2020. Over the years, Spor has also signed collaborations and remixes for Noisia, Phace, The Prodigy or Muse, while maintaining an identity based on rapid rhythms, sharp basslines and a futuristic atmosphere without ostentation.
