Sheryl Crow

Born in 1962 in Kennett, Missouri, Sheryl Crow developed an early taste for rock, pop and country before moving to Los Angeles and working as a backing vocalist, notably on Michael Jackson’s Bad tour in the late 1980s. She then launched a solo career and emerged in the mid-1990s with Tuesday Night Music Club (1993), followed by Sheryl Crow (1996) and The Globe Sessions (1998), which established a blend of American rock, pop with direct hooks and touches of folk and blues. Throughout the 2000s, albums such as C’mon, C’mon (2002), Wildflower (2005), Detours (2008) and 100 Miles from Memphis (2010) continued this guitar-driven, harmony-rich songwriting, while Crow frequently collaborated in studio and onstage with artists from rock, country and soul. Partly based in Nashville, she later leaned further into country and Americana with Feels Like Home (2013), then returned to a broader format on Be Myself (2017), Threads (2019) and Evolution (2024), where she combines introspective songs, social concerns and constant references to American popular music.
