Louis Chédid
Louis Chédid is a French singer-songwriter and musician, born in Ismaïlia, Egypt, and based in Paris from childhood. Coming from an artistic family — he is the father of Matthieu Chedid, known as -M- — he established himself in the 1970s as one of the most sensitive voices in French song. His world, marked by tenderness and clear-sightedness, addresses with restraint themes of love, the passage of time and the excesses of society. With songs that have become emblematic, such as “Ainsi soit-il”, “Anne ma sœur Anne”, “T’as beau pas être beau” and “Hold-up”, Louis Chédid has been able to combine timeless melodies with poetic lyrics, balancing lightness and gravity. His writing, at once simple and profound, has influenced several generations, as has his ability to renew himself without ever betraying his natural elegance. A demanding musician and craftsman of words, he continues to pursue a discreet but essential career, true to a humanist and sincere French chanson, where gentleness stands alongside reflection.
