SOAK

Born in Derry, Northern Ireland, SOAK is the project of Bridie Monds-Watson, a singer‑songwriter whose writing first drew attention in adolescence. Their music sits between indie folk, dream pop and alternative pop, with songs focused on the voice, guitar and understated arrangements that leave plenty of room for intimate storytelling. SOAK emerged in the early 2010s with several online tracks, then signed to Rough Trade. The first album, Before We Forgot How to Dream, appeared in 2015 and established a format of melancholic, direct and uncluttered songs, nourished as much by folk as by a misty pop. After this first period, SOAK evolved their writing toward a broader production and crisper textures on Grim Town in 2019, and then on If I Never Know You Like This Again in 2022, where the compositions gain rhythmic flexibility and melodic clarity without breaking with their introspective tone. Over the years, SOAK has performed on British and Irish indie and pop stages, while developing a repertoire where themes of identity, emotional bonds and coming of age remain central.
