Fionn Regan

Born in Bray, in County Wicklow, Ireland, Fionn Regan has since the early 2000s developed a songwriterly writing rooted in acoustic folk, folk rock and a stripped-down form of ballad where the voice, the guitar and the sense of imagery remain central. After several EPs released on independent labels, Fionn Regan emerged more widely with The End of History in 2006, a debut album that establishes his taste for sober arrangements and highly visual lyrics. The path that followed is less linear than a simple folk continuum: The Shadow of an Empire appeared in 2010, then 100 Acres of Sycamore in 2011 and The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tattoo in 2012, a record that is rougher and tighter. Over the years, Regan has played on many stages and festivals in Europe, the United States and Australia, while remaining attached to an intimate aesthetic. With The Meetings of the Waters in 2017, he broadened his palette toward a folk infused with ambient textures and airier arrangements, before continuing with Cala in 2019 and then O AVALANCHE in 2024. His career thus ties together traditional folk, contemporary writing and discreet evolutions toward more experimental climates, without breaking from a direct approach to song.
