Seinabo Sey

Born in Stockholm in 1990, Seinabo Sey grew up between the Swedish capital and Halmstad in a family shaped by Swedish and Gambian heritage, which also informs her artistic trajectory. Trained in singing and later returning to Stockholm to continue her musical studies, she emerged in 2013 with the single “Younger,” followed by “Hard Time” and “Pistols at Dawn,” at a time when her collaboration with producer Magnus Lidehäll helped shape a songwriting voice situated between contemporary soul, pop and electropop. Her music rests on a deep, direct voice, highly accessible melodies and production that blends rhythmic tension, electronic restraint and pop formats. After the EPs For Madeleine and For Maudo, both released in 2015, she issued the album Pretend the same year, then I’m a Dream in 2018 and The One After Me in 2023. Over the course of her career, Seinabo Sey has moved between the Scandinavian pop scene, occasional collaborations with Jacob Banks, Vargas & Lagola, Waterbaby and Dina Ögon, and appearances on more institutional stages such as Allsång på Skansen and the Nobel Peace Prize concert.
