Oskar Linnros
Born in Sundbyberg, in the Stockholm metropolitan area, Oskar Linnros first made his mark on the Swedish hip‑hop scene as part of the duo Snook, formed with Daniel Adams‑Ray in the early 2000s, releasing two albums: Vi vet inte vart vi ska men vi ska komma dit (2004) and Är (2006). After Snook disbanded, Linnros continued his career as a producer, composer and performer at the intersection of pop, soul and rap, working notably with Petter and Veronica Maggio — whose album Och vinnaren är he produced in 2008 — and taking part in the early days of Maskinen. As a solo artist he moved toward a more sung approach in 2010 with Vilja bli, where rap‑inherited rhythmic writing meets melodic Swedish pop, soul inflections and a restrained urban production. That direction continued with Klappar och slag (2013) and Väntar på en ängel (2017), preceded that year by the EPs Väntar and Väntar på en. Linnros has since been associated with a register in which the voice, often hovering between parlando and singing, rests on direct choruses, muted arrangements and lyrics rooted in everyday life, at the crossroads of the Swedish pop and R&B scenes.
