Lich King

Based in Amherst, Massachusetts, Lich King has been developing since 2004 around a very straightforward vision of thrash metal—inspired by the 1980s scene but delivered with a deliberately blunt, no-frills tone. The band, formed by singer and principal songwriter Tom Martin, quickly sharpened a fast, rhythmic and hook-driven aesthetic marked by tight riffs, aggressive vocals and short song structures inherited from crossover and hardcore punk. Lich King released its first album, “Necromantic Maelstrom,” in 2007, followed by “Toxic Zombie Onslaught” in 2008, which established their identity on record, then “World Gone Dead” (2010) and “Born of the Bomb” (2012), confirming their place in the North American thrash revival. With “The Omniclasm” (2017) the band pushed further into technicality and rhythmic density while retaining a taste for high tempos, melodic solos and chanted choruses. Regularly present on metal and thrash stages, they tour the US and Europe, sharing bills with peers and consolidating a reputation within a circuit of clubs and mid-sized festivals. Through these releases and sustained live activity, Lich King positions itself within a classic thrash continuity, with an intentionally raw, direct sound focused on collective energy.
