Robbie Williams

Born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1974, Robbie Williams first gained attention in the early 1990s as a member of the British boy band Take That, before leaving the group in 1995 to pursue a solo career focused on pop and pop rock. From Life thru a Lens (1997) and I’ve Been Expecting You (1998), Williams established a blend of catchy choruses, orchestrated ballads and a frequently ironic tone, underpinned by his central collaboration with songwriter Guy Chambers. Over the 2000s his repertoire broadened with Sing When You’re Winning (2000) and Escapology (2002), marked by more personal songwriting, while Swing When You’re Winning (2001) and Swings Both Ways (2013) revisited standards and a crooner aesthetic. With Rudebox (2006), The Heavy Entertainment Show (2016) and The Christmas Present (2019) Robbie Williams incorporated dance-pop, electronic and festive elements, while briefly rejoining Take That between 2010 and 2012. Active on major European stages and regularly involved in television and audiovisual projects, Williams has pursued a career that moves between mainstream pop, swing influences and autobiographical introspection, continued by the orchestral compilation XXV in 2022.
