Rod Stewart

Born in London in 1945, Rod Stewart first came to prominence on the British rhythm and blues scene in the mid‑1960s, passing through several bands before becoming the singer for the Jeff Beck Group and, at the turn of the decade, joining Faces. In parallel, Stewart launched a solo career with An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down (1969) and Gasoline Alley (1970), then refined a blend of rock, folk, and soul on Every Picture Tells a Story (1971) and Never a Dull Moment (1972). After relocating to the United States, he gradually steered his music toward more mainstream rock and pop balladry, as evidenced by Atlantic Crossing (1975), A Night on the Town (1976), and Blondes Have More Fun (1978). Recognizable for his raspy voice and strong penchant for cover versions, he has alternated over the decades between albums of original material, live recordings such as Unplugged... and Seated (1993), and projects focused on standards—most notably the Great American Songbook series launched in 2002—while remaining active on stages across Europe and North America.
