P.O.D.

Formed in San Diego, California in 1992, P.O.D., short for Payable on Death, brings together Sonny Sandoval on vocals, Wuv Bernardo on drums, Traa Daniels on bass and, for most of its career, Marcos Curiel on guitar. The quartet first emerged from the Southern California alternative metal scene, with a sound that blends nu metal, rap rock, alternative metal and touches of reggae, on songs built around heavy riffs, hip‑hop phrasing and more melodic choruses. After the independent releases Snuff the Punk (1994) and Brown (1996), P.O.D. reached a wider audience with The Fundamental Elements of Southtown (1999) and Satellite (2001), an album that established the balance between metal energy and more accessible elements. Despite lineup changes in the early 2000s, P.O.D. continued with Payable on Death (2003), Testify (2006), Murdered Love (2012), The Awakening (2015), Circles (2018) and Veritas (2024). Across tours on metal and rock stages and at international festivals, P.O.D. has maintained an identity marked by stylistic crossover and lyrics rooted in a personal and spiritual register.
