Ozark Henry
Born in Courtrai in 1970, Belgian musician Piet Goddaer adopted the pseudonym Ozark Henry in the mid-1990s to develop a universe at the crossroads of pop, electronic music and orchestral sound. Ozark Henry's first albums, “I'm Not Deaf I'm Just Ignoring You” (1996) and “This Last Warm Solitude” (1998), sit in an experimental vein, marked by dark atmospheres and meticulous sound work. With “Birthmarks” (2001) and “The Sailor Not The Sea” (2004) he moved toward a more melodic songwriting approach, where pop structures are built around crafted vocal layers and refined arrangements. “The Soft Machine” (2006), “Hvelreki” (2010) and “Stay Gold” (2013) continued this evolution toward expansive, cinematic pop, which the artist has also presented in orchestral versions, notably with “Paramount” (2015). Alongside his studio albums, Ozark Henry composes for film and television and collaborates with various Belgian ensembles, cultivating a sound characterised by precise electronic textures, prominent strings and English-language singing at the heart of the project's identity.
