Protoje

Protoje, whose real name is Oje Ken Ollivierre, is a central figure in contemporary reggae and one of the pillars of the Reggae Revival movement. Hailing from Saint Elizabeth in Jamaica, he made his mark early with tracks that have become essential, such as Who Knows, Rasta Love, Kingston Be Wise, Switch It Up and Really Like You. His modern reggae, tinged with hip-hop, soul, R&B, trap, dub and sometimes even rock, appeals through its authenticity and forward-looking spirit. Founder of the collective The In.Digg.Nation, Protoje helped bring an entire generation of Jamaican artists to light, including Chronixx, Lila Iké and Sevana. His albums A Matter of Time, In Search of Lost Time and Third Time’s the Charm form a conceptual trilogy about the passage of time, combining introspection with reflections on society, fatherhood and artistic creation. With In Search of Zion he revisits his work in a more roots- and dub-oriented version alongside the crew Zion I Kings. A multiple Grammy nominee, Protoje has performed on the world’s biggest stages — from Coachella to Glastonbury as well as Rototom Sunsplash and Les Eurockéennes — confirming his status as a visionary and indispensable artist. Always seeking innovation, he is preparing an ambitious new project, The Jamaican Situation, at the crossroads of film and music, ahead of the release of his next album scheduled for 2026.
