Miss Montreal
Miss Montreal takes shape in the Netherlands in 2008 around the singer and songwriter Sanne Hans, who remains the central figure within a pop-rock formation with direct and melodic writing. The project initially emerges in English with the single 'Just a Flirt', then settles on the Dutch scene with a repertoire that alternates guitar pop, accessible rock, and more intimate songs. The first album, Miss Montreal, appears in 2009, followed by So... Anything Else? in 2010 and I Am Hunter in 2012, a period during which Miss Montreal moves from radio and club circuits to concert halls and theatres. Over the years, Sanne Hans evolves the project into a more personal expression, incorporating Dutch more into her repertoire and developing a writing style centered on simple melodies, sober arrangements, and a vocal performance with a slightly raspy grain. The Home Recordings is released in 2013, then the title 'Say Heaven Say Hell' marks a new exposure, notably through television. After the theatrical tour Onmeunig Sanne, the album Don’t Wake Me Up appears in 2016. Miss Montreal continues then her journey between pop rock, Dutch chanson, and acoustic formats, with regular presence on stages in the Netherlands and a band setup centred around Sanne Hans and her musicians.
