Diggy Dex

Dutch rapper and singer-songwriter Diggy Dex, real name Koen Jansen, established himself on the Netherlands’ hip-hop scene from the early 2000s as part of the collective D.A.C., active around Amersfoort. On his solo work Diggy Dex developed Dutch-language rap that is both narrative and melodic, focused on everyday stories, relationships and personal doubts, with an emphasis on sung choruses and arrangements that lean toward pop and chanson. His debut album Verhalen vanuit de sofa was released in 2006, followed by Mayonaise Voor De Ziel in 2010 and Do It Yourself Society in 2012, which show a gradual shift from classic rap toward more songwriter-oriented formats. With Golven in 2015 Diggy Dex consolidated this hybrid approach, blending hip-hop rhythms, folk influences and soul accents. His collaborations, notably with singer JW Roy, established him on Dutch pop and hip-hop stages from clubs to festivals, while he also continues writing for other artists and pursuing more intimate touring projects.
