Klone
Formed in Poitiers in the 1990s, Klone occupies a distinctive place in the French heavy rock scene by moving a base of progressive and alternative metal toward a more atmospheric form of songwriting, where art rock, post-rock and post-metal intersect. Klone’s trajectory is reflected in records such as Duplicate (2004), All Seeing Eye (2008) and Black Days (2010), followed by a noticeable broadening of their palette on Here Comes the Sun (2015), Unplugged (2017), Le Grand Voyage (2019) and Meanwhile (2023). Around Yann Ligner’s clear voice, Klone works with contrasts between dense riffs, often restrained tempos, contemplative passages and elongated melodies, placing marked emphasis on textures and dynamics rather than on technical showmanship. This evolution has been accompanied by regular live activity across Europe and internationally, sharing bills notably with Devin Townsend, Gojira, Riverside, Leprous and Pain of Salvation, in contexts that link the contemporary metal scene to progressive rock audiences.
