Gazpacho

Originally from Oslo, Norway, the progressive rock band Gazpacho formed in 1996 around Jan-Henrik Ohme, Jon-Arne Vilbo and Thomas Andersen, soon joined by Mikael Krømer, Kristian Torp and Lars Erik Asp to stabilize a six-piece lineup. The band emerged in the early 2000s on the European progressive rock scene, quickly distributing their music online and opening for Marillion, which anchored them within a network of venues and festivals. From the debut Bravo (2003), through When Earth Lets Go (2004) and Firebird (2005), Gazpacho established a sound between progressive rock, art rock and ambient, marked by a measured vocal delivery, frequent use of violin and keyboards, and a taste for extended formats. Night (2007) confirmed a preference for slowly developing pieces and repetitive atmospheres, a direction continued with concept albums such as Missa Atropos (2010) and Demon (2014), and later Molok (2015), Soyuz (2018) and Fireworker (2020). The lyrics often revolve around stories, myths or metaphysical questions, supported by detailed arrangements that combine rock motifs, chamber-music touches and subtle electronic textures. Mainly active touring in Europe, Gazpacho favors the club and festival circuit dedicated to progressive rock, where they present concerts focused on near-narrative interpretations of their albums.
