Lauren Auder
Born in Watford, England, in 1998 and raised in Albi, Lauren Auder has built a career between France and the United Kingdom. She first came up through the English and French underground rap scenes, producing for several artists before shifting toward more personal songwriting. Settled in London, Auder creates music at the intersection of baroque pop, art pop and orchestral pop, infused with elements of contemporary classical, ambient, soul and subtle electronics, and carried by a low voice that lends her songs a restrained tension. After releasing several tracks online in the mid-2010s, she issued the EP Who Carry’s You in 2018, followed by Two Caves In in 2020 and 5 Songs for the Dysphoric in 2021 — three records that refine an introspective, highly structured approach to songwriting. She also supported Christine and the Queens on part of her 2018 European tour, contributed to a Haim remix in 2020 and recorded a cover of Some Small Hope with Caroline Polachek the same year. In 2023 Lauren Auder released her debut album, The Infinite Spine, which extends this aesthetic of contained lyricism, expansive arrangements and alternative songcraft.
