Lonely the Brave
Formed in Cambridge, England in 2008, Lonely the Brave develops an alternative rock at the crossroads of indie rock and melodic post-hardcore, with wide guitars, highly contrasted dynamics, and vocals driven toward emphasis without tipping into the metal register. The band first drew notice on the British scene with the EPs For an Exit Light in 2008 and Backroads in 2010, before stabilizing its identity through tours and rock festivals in the United Kingdom. Their debut album, The Day’s War, appeared in 2014, followed by Things Will Matter in 2016, two records that establish Lonely the Brave’s writing centered on the tensions between open refrains and rougher textures. In 2018, the departure of vocalist David Jakes marked a major change, with the arrival of Jack Bennett on vocals. This new configuration led to The Hope List in 2021, an album that preserves the band’s intensity while emphasizing a more atmospheric and introspective vein. Still active, Lonely the Brave operates as a tight-knit rock collective, committed to direct writing and to arrangements that blend energy, melody and density.
