Lone

Born as Matt Cutler and associated with Nottingham’s British scene, Lone has charted a distinct path in electronic music since the mid-2000s. Initially shaped by instrumental hip‑hop and beatmaking, his sound later evolved into a meeting of house, techno, jungle, breakbeats and ambient, with a constant taste for hazy melodies, supple rhythms and a very English rave nostalgia. His early record landmarks, including Lemurian (2008), reveal a still-granular, dreamlike universe, before Emerald Fantasy Tracks (2010) and Galaxy Garden (2012) steered Lone toward brighter club formats. Reality Testing (2014) and Levitate (2016) continued this trajectory, balancing rhythmic efficacy with atmospheric work, while Always Inside Your Head (2021) opened up more contemplative compositions. Present both in underground circuits and on festival stages, Lone navigates between dancefloor tracks and more immersive listening without settling permanently in a single register.
