Lisa Leblanc

Born in Rosaireville, New Brunswick, Lisa LeBlanc is part of an Acadian scene from which she reclaims the language, accents and circulations between French, English and chiac. Her writing takes shape in adolescence, before a broader breakthrough in the early 2010s after her appearance at the Granby International Song Festival. Lisa LeBlanc then develops a raw folk-rock format, centered on guitar, banjo and a direct interpretation, often associated with the trash-folk label. Her first album, Lisa LeBlanc, was released in 2012, followed by Highways, Heartaches and Time Well Wasted in 2014 as an EP, where she emphasizes the place of English in her songs. With Why You Wanna Leave, Runaway Queen? in 2016, LeBlanc further broadens her spectrum by mixing folk, rock and more abrasive energy, while maintaining writing anchored in daily life. In 2020, she releases under the name Belinda the EP It’s Not a Game, It’s a Lifestyle, a disco detour around the bingo universe, announcing the Chiac Disco turn in 2022. On this third studio album, LeBlanc makes dance rhythms, pop melodies and Acadian expressions coexist, without breaking with her sense of storytelling nor with the francophone, folk and alternative scenes she has frequented since her beginnings.
