P'tit Belliveau
Under the name P'tit Belliveau, Jonah Richard Guimond has been developing from Baie Sainte‑Marie, Nova Scotia, a music that blends Acadian French, English, country, folk, pop and touches of rap or electronic in a often simple and direct format. Born in Fort Frances, Ontario, and raised in the municipality of Clare, P'tit Belliveau began releasing early tracks under the pseudonym JonahMeltWave before issuing several EPs with Tide School, including Highway 101 in 2017 and School's Out in 2018. The project gained momentum after his Francouvertes final in 2019 and with the release of Greatest Hits Vol. 1 in 2020, notably propelled by the track Income Tax. He followed with the EP ... chante Baptiste in 2021, Un homme et son piano in 2022, and the album P'tit Belliveau in 2024. His songwriting draws on everyday life, Acadian speech and a taste for memorable choruses, with arrangements that move from ballad to more rhythmically driven songs while retaining a handcrafted aesthetic. Now settled again in Nova Scotia after spells in Dartmouth and Moncton, P'tit Belliveau also participates in Canadian francophone and independent scenes, with occasional collaborations such as those with FouKi.
