Klô Pelgag
A singer-songwriter from Sainte-Anne-des-Monts in Gaspésie and now based in Québec, Klô Pelgag has, since the early 2010s, been crafting francophone songs that fuse orchestral pop, art pop, and chamber-music influences. Under this stage name, Chloé Pelletier-Gagnon first made her mark on Montréal’s emerging scene through various competitions and showcases, before releasing a debut album, L’alchimie des monstres (2013), which already revealed a world defined by lush arrangements and a taste for offbeat imagery. She continued this exploration on L’Étoile thoracique (2016), heightening the orchestral dimension and foregrounding writing that weaves observations of the body, family ties, and everyday life with images close to the fairy tale and the dream. With Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs (2020), she rooted her songs more deeply in interior landscapes and references to her home territory, while preserving a taste for contrasts between luminous melodies and darker themes. On stage, she presents these compositions with a band, in concerts where staging, dynamic nuance, and a deeply felt performance extend the studio’s arrangement work, while she also takes part in various projects and collaborations across the francophone world.
