La Yegros

Between Buenos Aires and the tropical province of Misiones, La Yegros crafts a world where the popular music of northeast Argentina meets global electronic music. Singer Mariana “La Yegros” Yegros, born in the province of Buenos Aires, emerged in the early 2010s within the nu-cumbia scene fostered by the porteño label ZZK, developing a repertoire that blends cumbia, chamamé, carnavalito, pop and hip-hop. Her debut album Viene de mí (2013) established La Yegros’ signature—direct, forward vocals, staccato rhythms and motifs borrowed from South American folklore—recorded with producer Gaby Kerpel, aka King Coya. Magnetismo (2016) extended this aesthetic, broadening the palette toward more melodic textures and collaborations with musicians from the Latin American alternative and electronic scenes. With Suelta (2019), she accentuated the dance-oriented direction of her songwriting while retaining references to rural tradition and the sounds of Argentina’s littoral. Regularly touring Europe and Latin America, La Yegros translates this fusion of electronic basses, Latin percussion and popular singing to the stage, in a flexible band format that adapts to clubs, festivals or concert halls.
