Quantic

English producer and multi‑instrumentalist based in Brooklyn, Quantic, aka Will Holland, has been developing since the early 2000s a project at the crossroads of electronic music, soul, funk, jazz and Afro‑Latin musics. Initially associated with the Brighton scene and the Tru Thoughts label, Quantic gained attention with the albums The 5th Exotic (2001), Apricot Morning (2002) and Mishaps Happening (2004), which combine hip‑hop beats, samples and organic arrangements. From An Announcement to Answer (2006), and especially with Tradition in Transition (2009), recorded with his Combo Bárbaro after relocating to Cali, Colombia, Quantic deepened his work around cumbia, salsa and diasporic musical traditions. At the same time he has led several side projects such as the Quantic Soul Orchestra, Flowering Inferno and Ondatrópica, and regularly collaborates with Colombian singer Nidia Góngora, notably on the albums Curao (2017) and Almas Conectadas (2021). Back in the United States, Quantic continued his productions with Magnetica (2014) and Atlantic Oscillations (2019), alternating DJ sets and live lineups that further his exploration of the dialogue between traditional rhythms and contemporary electronic production.
