Zoufris Maracas

At the beginning of Zoufris Maracas were Vin’s and Micho, two thirty-somethings who had met at fifteen. The pair decided to take a gap year to explore West Africa. Between Niger and Burkina the two founders drew inspiration for their songs from the rhythms of African percussion. A few years later they were separated, before finally reuniting in Paris in 2007. With little money in their pockets, Zoufris Maracas busked and sang in the metro, where they met a man named Titi who got them into a festival. Thanks to that festival, Vin’s and Micho met an independent producer called Julio in 2008. Two years later Zoufris Maracas were noticed by the group La Rue Kétanou, who invited them on stage. From that moment, Zoufris Maracas and their “poetry of insubmission” toured stages and festivals such as L’Humanité. In the meantime the band expanded, welcoming François Causse, Brice and Mike, and in 2012 they released their first album, titled “Prison Dorée.”
