Chancha Via Circuito
Under the name Chancha Vía Circuito, Argentine producer Pedro Canale has developed in Buenos Aires an approach to electronic music that blends digital cumbia, downtempo and South American folk traditions. Emerging in the late 2000s within the scene around ZZK Records, his music combines slow rhythms, atmospheric textures and motifs borrowed from Andean, Amazonian and Río de la Plata repertoires, with a strong emphasis on vocals and percussion. Chancha Vía Circuito released Rodante in 2008 and Río Arriba in 2010, two albums that established the foundations of this language situated between club culture, Latin American popular music and contemplative listening. With Amansara in 2014 and Bienaventuranza in 2018, Pedro Canale broadened his spectrum further by incorporating more singing, South American folk and ambient moods. In concerts as in DJ sets, Chancha Vía Circuito moves between electronic stages, festivals dedicated to hybrid musics and more immersive formats, in a register where dance remains linked to meticulous work on timbre, space and the interplay between tradition and contemporary production.
