Lagwagon
Active since the late 1980s, Lagwagon emerged from the punk rock scene in Goleta, near Santa Barbara, California, centered around singer Joey Cape and guitarist Chris Flippin. Formed in 1989 as Section 8 before adopting the name Lagwagon, the band quickly joined the Fat Wreck Chords roster and took part in the early-1990s California melodic skate-punk wave, characterized by fast tempos, precise guitars and vocals that alternate between catchy melodies and rougher tones. The early albums “Duh” (1992), “Trashed” (1994) and “Hoss” (1995) established Lagwagon on North American and European touring circuits, followed by “Double Plaidinum” (1997) and “Let’s Talk About Feelings” (1998), which emphasized a more introspective side of the songwriting. After a period of slowed activity and several lineup changes, Lagwagon returned with “Blaze” (2003) and “Resolve” (2005), the latter marked by a tribute to drummer Derrick Plourde, and released new recordings in the mid-2010s, including “Hang” (2014) and “Railer” (2019), continuing a style that mixes melodic punk, hardcore influences and pop sensibilities.
