Teenage Bottlerocket
Formed in Laramie, Wyoming, Teenage Bottlerocket stands in the lineage of early-2000s American melodic punk rock, built around twin brothers Ray and Brandon Carlisle and later joined by guitarist-vocalist Kody Templeman, also of The Lillingtons. The band hones a fast, straight-ahead, melody-driven punk marked by simple gang vocals, a Ramones-like sound, and lyrics that blend prolonged adolescence, humor, and nods to skate culture, genre cinema, and life on the road. After a self-released debut, Another Way (2003), Teenage Bottlerocket drew attention in the indie scene with Total (2005) and Warning Device (2008), before moving to Fat Wreck Chords for They Came from the Shadows (2009) and Freak Out! (2012). Tales from Wyoming, released in 2015, coincided with the passing of Brandon Carlisle that same year—an event that didn’t derail the band’s momentum; they continued touring North America and Europe with a new drummer. They followed with the covers set Stealing the Covers (2017) and the albums Stay Rad! (2019) and Sick Sesh! (2021), solidifying a style that remains faithful to short song formats, instant choruses, and a band energy built for small venues, clubs, and punk festivals.
