Illdisposed
Formed in the early 1990s in Aarhus, Denmark, Illdisposed belongs to the first generation of Nordic death metal bands, centered around vocalist Bo Summer, the only constant member of an often-changing lineup. Initially rooted in brutal, compact death metal, the band quickly honed a groovier identity characterized by heavy tempos, melodic yet massive riffs and prominently low-register vocals — a combination that became Illdisposed’s sonic trademark. After the early albums “Four Depressive Seasons” (1993) and “Submit” (1995), and later “Kokaiinum” (2001), the release of “1-800 Vindication” in 2004 opened a more exposed phase, confirmed by regular releases such as “Burn Me Wicked” (2006), “The Prestige” (2008) and “There Is Light (But It’s Not For Me)” (2011). Several Illdisposed records subsequently entered the official Danish album charts, while the song “Dark” appeared on the soundtrack of the horror film “Saw.” Subsequent albums, from “Grey Sky Over Black Town” (2016) to “Reveal Your Soul for the Dead” (2019) and “In Chambers of Sonic Disgust” (2023), continued this approach to death metal with marked melodic and rhythmic accents, supported by sustained live activity across Europe that has kept Illdisposed on the extreme metal map over time.
