Blood Red Throne
Formed in Kristiansand, Norway in 1998, Blood Red Throne has developed since its beginnings a brutal, compact death metal rooted in the Scandinavian extreme scene but oriented toward frontal impact rather than the atmospheres of Norwegian black metal. From Monument of Death (2001), and later Affiliated with the Suffering (2003) and Altered Genesis (2005), the band established a style built on dense riffs, contrasting tempos, forceful drumming and guttural vocals, with songwriting that alternates speed, heaviness and rhythmic tension. The group has gone through numerous lineup changes over the years while maintaining a consistent aesthetic line between old‑school death metal, modern brutality and more technical touches. That continuity is evident on Come Death (2007), Souls of Damnation (2009), the self-titled Blood Red Throne (2013), Union of Flesh and Machine (2016), Fit to Kill (2019), Imperial Congregation (2021) and Nonagon (2023). Long present on Europe’s extreme metal stages, Blood Red Throne remains associated with a direct, compact and no‑nonsense approach to Norwegian death metal.
