BAEST

Formed in Aarhus, Denmark, in 2015, BAEST sits within a death metal tradition shaped by both the Swedish school of the 1990s and the heavier sound of American death metal. The quintet, led by Simon Olsen’s guttural vocals and propelled by a heavy rhythm section, cultivates a range that alternates blunt accelerations, dark melodic riffs, and slower, groove-focused passages. After self-produced early recordings, the band signed with Century Media Records and released the album Danse Macabre in 2018, which established a deliberate old-school aesthetic. BAEST followed with Venenum in 2019, further refined their writing on Necro Sapiens in 2021, and issued the slightly more technical EP Justitia in 2022. Very active on the road, BAEST has undertaken numerous European tours and appeared at extreme metal festivals, building a stage-oriented repertoire while remaining rooted in direct, identifiable death metal.
