Hypno5e
Founded in Montpellier in the early 2000s around guitarist and vocalist Emmanuel Jessua, Hypno5e develops progressive metal with a strong post‑metal component, built on lengthy songs, pronounced dynamic shifts and an atmosphere-driven approach close to cinematic writing. The band’s trajectory begins with Des Deux l’Une Est l’Autre (2007) and Acid Mist Tomorrow (2009), before expanding into a more narrative scope on Shores of the Abstract Line (2014). With Alba - Les Ombres Errantes (2018), Hypno5e shifts its center of gravity toward more acoustic arrangements, strings and folk motifs, echoing Emmanuel Jessua’s ties to Bolivia, where he grew up. A Distant (Dark) Source (2019) continues this style, alternating heavy sequences, melodic passages and spoken-word sections, while Sheol (2022) pursues the dialogue between metal power, airy textures and fragmented storytelling. On stage Hypno5e most often appears as a quartet and moves between metal festivals, post‑rock venues and more experimental contexts, with an aesthetic that keeps the contrast between distortion, acoustic elements and orchestral breath at its core.
