Kangding Ray

Under the name Kangding Ray, David Letellier has been developing an electronic practice since the mid-2000s that originated in France and is based in Berlin, at the intersection of techno, ambient and a more experimental sonic writing. Associated with the Raster-Noton catalogue from the start, he made his mark with Stabil in 2006, followed by Automne Fold in 2008, OR in 2011 and Solens Arc in 2014, before continuing with Hyper Opal Mantis in 2017 and Ultrachroma in 2022. His music articulates detailed textures, often fragmented rhythms, deep bass and an intense focus on spatialization, with forms that can shift from a club track to more abstract, immersive constructions. Kangding Ray moves between electronic stages, festivals and performance formats where sonic precision matters as much as the physical energy of the rhythm. Across his discography he has evolved his language from a sometimes rough minimalism to a denser, more colorful and more mobile material, while remaining in a territory where tension, pulse and formal inquiry remain closely linked.
