Justin Nozuka

Born in New York in 1988 to a family of Japanese and Canadian origins, Justin Nozuka developed between the United States and Canada a songwriting voice that sits between folk, soul and contemporary R&B, supported by a supple voice and often acoustic, spare and melodic arrangements. He emerged at the end of the 2000s with Holly (2007), a debut album focused on intimate, narrative songs, and followed with You I Wind Land and Sea (2010), where his approach broadened into a more expansive production without abandoning that blend of songcraft, pop‑soul and folk. After several years of touring, notably across Europe and North America, Nozuka released Ulysees (2014), which he produced himself, and later Run to Waters (2018), Daydreams & Endless Nights (2023) and Chlorine (2024). His career also intersects with other artists from the Canadian and anglophone scenes through occasional collaborations with the likes of The Slakadeliqs, RZA, River Tiber and Mahalia. Over the course of his records, Justin Nozuka has shifted toward more atmospheric and pared‑down textures while keeping at the core a personal songwriting style—equal parts folk confession, soul inflection and R&B sensibility.
