Jacob Banks
After spending his childhood in Nigeria, Jacob Banks settled in the United Kingdom and honed his songwriting in Birmingham, where he began to attract attention on the local scene in the late 2000s. The singer and songwriter moves between soul, R&B, pop and gospel influences, his deep voice foregrounded in often cinematic arrangements that blend guitars, horn sections and electronic textures. Jacob Banks released his first EP, The Monologue, in 2013, followed by The Paradox in 2015, which positioned him among the new generation of British soul. Based in London, he continued with the EP The Boy Who Cried Freedom in 2017, then issued his first full-length album, Village, in 2018, deepening a mix of slow ballads, more driving tracks and songs bordering on modern blues. In 2022, Jacob Banks returned with the album Lies About The War, marked by leaner writing and a heightened focus on guitars and backing vocals. A regular presence on tour in the UK, Europe and North America, he alternates club shows, opening slots and festivals, cementing a path at the crossroads of contemporary soul and alternative pop.
