HEALTH
Emerging in the mid-2000s from Los Angeles’s experimental scene centered on the DIY venue The Smell, HEALTH developed a sound at the crossroads of noise rock, industrial music, and dark electronics. The band—built around Jacob Duzsik, John Famiglietti, and Benjamin Jared Miller—made its mark with a self-titled debut in 2007, defined by jagged structures, spectral vocals, and heavy use of distortion. HEALTH followed with Get Color in 2009, which heightened rhythmic and melodic dimensions while preserving an abrasive aesthetic, then joined a wave of remixes with Health//Disco (2008) and ::Disco2 (2010), opening its world to other electronic and alternative scenes. In 2012, HEALTH scored the video game Max Payne 3, a project that reinforced the cinematic and atmospheric side of its writing. The releases of Death Magic in 2015 and Vol. 4: Slaves of Fear in 2019 signaled a shift toward a more direct approach, blending industrial beats, synthetic textures, and more foregrounded vocals. In parallel, the DISCO project continued with ::Disco3 in 2017 and then DISCO4 :: PART I (2020) and DISCO4 :: PART II (2022), series focused on reinterpretations and collaborations that place HEALTH at the intersection of metal, electronic music, and dark pop, both on record and on stage, across alternative clubs, festivals, and international tours.
