The Black Queen

Born in Los Angeles in the early 2010s, The Black Queen brings together singer Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), producer Joshua Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv), and guitarist/programmer Steven Alexander in a project firmly oriented toward dark electronic and synth-pop. The Black Queen builds a sound world where highly sung melodic lines, slow electronic rhythms and new wave–inspired synth textures intersect with industrial influences and a sensibility close to alternative R&B. The band began attracting attention from 2015 with a series of online-released tracks that led to the 2016 album Fever Daydream, a record that positioned The Black Queen between retrofuturistic synth-pop and introspective electronic pop. In 2018 the second album Infinite Games extended this direction, emphasizing minimalist, atmospheric elements with songs often based on repetition, vocal textures and dynamic contrasts. On stage The Black Queen translates its studio work into a trio format where programming and keyboards coexist with Greg Puciato’s vocals, performing within circuits of alternative electronic music and post-industrial lineages.
