VOWWS

Formed in Australia and based in Los Angeles, VOWWS develops a sound positioned between darkwave, post-punk, electronic music and dark pop, often summarized by the term “death-pop.” Originally conceived as a duo, VOWWS crafts tense, melodic songs where cold textures, martial rhythms and more accessible choruses intersect, working within an aesthetic influenced by cinema, visual culture and a form of melancholy without pathos. The project emerged in the mid-2010s and released the albums The Great Sun in 2015 and Under the World in 2018 — two records that established the foundations of a sound that is at once synthetic, rock-oriented and introspective. Over the years VOWWS has also expanded its activity beyond the strict framework of concerts, producing compositions, collaborations and performances linked to fashion for Comme des Garçons, Alyx, Givenchy and Byredo. In 2024 VOWWS evolved its stage presence by also performing in a four-piece configuration, bringing to the stage a denser sonic material than that of the original duo.
