Gun

Formed in Glasgow in 1987 around guitarist Giuliano Gizzi, Gun belong to a strand of Scottish rock that blends melodic hard rock, pop rock and touches of alternative rock, featuring direct choruses and prominent guitar work. After an initial phase marked by Taking on the World (1989), Gallus (1992) and Swagger (1994), Gun secured a visible place on the British rock scene in the early 1990s, notably thanks to their cover of Cameo’s "Word Up!" as well as to sustained live activity that took them on tour with the Rolling Stones, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi and to festivals such as T in the Park. The band split in 1997 after 0141 632 6326, before resuming activity from 2008. That relaunch brought a major change: Dante Gizzi, originally the bassist, became the lead vocalist. Since then Gun has released Break the Silence (2012), Frantic (2015), Favourite Pleasures (2017), The Calton Songs (2022) and Hombres (2024). In this more recent incarnation, Gun retains a straightforward, melodic rock writing that balances group energy, a radio-rock format and a British classic-rock heritage.
