The Quireboys

Formed in London in 1984 around singer Spike, with strong ties to Newcastle, The Quireboys belong to a British rock lineage nourished by hard rock, blues rock, and pub rock, with a marked fondness for bar-room choruses, gritty guitars, and a collaborative playing style that recalls both late-1970s rock and the hard rock scene of the 1980s. Initially active under other names before definitively adopting The Quireboys, the group drew attention on London stages such as the Marquee before releasing A Bit of What You Fancy in 1990, followed by Bitter Sweet & Twisted in 1993. After a breakup in the 1990s, The Quireboys hit the road again and relaunched their discography with This Is Rock'n'Roll in 2001, followed in particular by Well Oiled in 2004, Homewreckers & Heartbreakers in 2008, Beautiful Curse in 2013, St. Cecilia and the Gypsy Soul in 2015, White Trash Blues in 2017, Amazing Disgrace in 2019 and Wardour Street in 2024. Over the decades the lineup has undergone numerous musician changes, but Spike has remained the central figure of The Quireboys, while members such as Guy Bailey, Nigel Mogg, Chris Johnstone, Luke Morley or Willie Dowling have marked different periods in the band's history. Their journey remains linked to European rock circuits, between clubs, mid-sized venues and festivals.
