The Orielles

Formed in Halifax, West Yorkshire, The Orielles bring together Esmé Dee Hand-Halford, Sidonie B. Hand-Halford and Henry Carlyle Wade around an English indie rock that also incorporates indie pop, post‑rock, psychedelic touches and hints of space rock. The Orielles began to circulate on the British independent scene in the mid‑2010s with several singles, before signing to Heavenly Recordings and developing a sound built on very mobile basslines, chiming guitars, a supple rhythmic approach and songs that alternate between pop formats and more atmospheric excursions. Their debut album, Silver Dollar Moment, appeared in 2018, followed by Disco Volador in 2020, where The Orielles broadened their approach with less frontal structures, more cosmic textures and a clearer space given to danceable rhythms. In 2022 they continued this evolution with Tableau, presented as an experimental double album. Across these records, The Orielles sit within a generation of British bands that combine indie energy, melodic curiosity and sonic exploration without limiting themselves to a single register.
